Whenever a new Harry Potter game is announces I'm feeling giddy, until reality seeps in. I love the books, but the recent mobile games where just not my thing.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery sounded so cool on paper. I mean, who didn't dream of becoming a Hogwarts student at least once? In the end I uninstalled it after my poor character was stuck in a Devil's Snare for hours, because I didn't have enough (purchasable) energy points to free her.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite lasted a couple days at least. After all, it's made by the guys behind Pokémon Go and they know their way around AR games. What ruined the experience for me was mostly the speed. A game that's meant to be played on the go just shouldn't have such long and slow animations in my opinion.
Harry Potter: Rätsel&Zauber is the newest app and how does the saying go: Three's the charm? Nope, sadly not in this case. It's basicly Candy Crush, which is not a negative thing per se, but I like my games with a beat more meat on them and slightly less dependancy on microtransactions to continue playing.
My big hope is the upcoming AAA-game Hogwarts Legacy. It's at least a little while till I'll be able to judge this one myself, so until then I'll copy Harry Potter himself. Just keep smiling and eat his favourite food: treacle tart. The famous wizards likes this desert so much, that he even smells it when he's slipped the love potion Amortentia. I'm not quite that in love with it, but I must say, it makes for a good desert, especially with some fresh cream on top.
220g flour ½ ts salt 450g dark treacle 45ml cream 1 lemon 1 egg 75g lard 75g butter 100g breadcrumbs (preferably freshly made) 80ml ice water
mix salt and flour in a bowl
add the cold butter and lard in cubes to the bowl
knead everything together, add water if needed until the dough has a crumbly texture, but sticks together. Work fast, otherwise everything gets worm and the crust will be tough later
Form the dough into ball and then into a disc with a thickness of roughly 2cm
Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30min, preferably longer
preheat the oven to 190C (top/bottom heat)
Roll the dough into a circle shape that is roughly 5mm thick everywhere
Place the dough circle in a quiche or tarte form and cut off the excess
Pierce holes into the dough with a fork, so air can escape when baking
Place a piece of parchment paper on the dough and add dried beans or peas
Bake for 15min in the middle of the oven
take out the beans/peas and bake again for 5-10min, till the tarte starts to brown
get it out of the oven and set it aside while you prepare the filling
grate the lemon zest off, you only want the yellow skin, the white stuff is better
juice the lemon
put dark treacle, lemon juice and lemon zest into a pot and heat it till hot and liquidy
take the pot of the heat, mix in the breadcrumbs and let everything cool for 5min
mix the egg with the cream and combine it with the treacle mix
pour the filling into the crust
bake for around 25min in the middle of the oven
when the crust is golden brown, take the treacle tart out of the oven and let it cool
Guten Hunger!
