The new World of Warcraft expansion Shadowlands is right around the corner. So I had the grandiose idea to celebrate the end of Battle for Azeroth with some "N'Zoth Tentacles" aka red cabbage rolls. It had some...scratch that...it had tons of issues, but I still had a lot of fun exploring Kultiras (especially Drustvar) and Zandalar.
However, I swear, if I ever have to help another turtle reach the water, the next recipe on this site will be turtle soup. I'm very curious to see what awaits us in the next chapter of WoW's story, but for now: Let's eat or the cabbage rolls will be getting cold, can't have that!
300g mincemeat (pork/beef)
1 red cabbage
1 egg
6 potatoes
1 onion
200ml cream
125g bacon bits
400ml broth
salt
pepper
nutmeg
parsley
peel the potatoes and cut them into chunks
peel the onion and cut it into small cubes
brown the onion cubes in butter and set aside to cool
remove four big leaves from the red cabbage
cook the leaves for 3min then dunk them in ice water for 2min
mix the mincemeat with salt, pepper, parsley, egg and the sautéed onion
lay down one of the like leafs in front of you, stem towards you
put 1/4th of the meat mix on its lower third
fold up the sides, roll carefully and set aside
put the bacon bits into a pan and render the fat
take out the bacon and put the rolls in the pan, seam down
sear for a couple minutes, re-add the bacon, then add broth and cream
flavour with salt, pepper and nutmeg
stir and cook for 30min
bring a pot of water to a boil, add the potato cubes and cook till done
take the rolls out and reduce the sauce while you serve the rest
Guten Hunger!
